New and Amended Regulations under the Nursing Act, 2005 (Act No. 33 of 2005)

Attached please find copies of the new and amendment regulations made in terms of the Nursing Act, 2005 (Act No. 33 of 2005) and published by notice in the Gazette on 8 March 2013.

New Regulations

R. 169 8 March 2013 Regulations relating to the approval of and the minimum requirements for the education and training of a learner leading to registration in the category Auxiliary Nurse
R. 170 8 March 2013 Regulations relating to the fees and fines payable to the South African Nursing Council
R. 171 8 March 2013 Regulations relating to the approval of and the minimum requirements for the education and training of a learner leading to registration in the category Staff Nurse
R. 173 8 March 2013 Regulations relating to the accreditation of institutions as Nursing Education Institutions
R. 174 8 March 2013 Regulations relating to the approval of and the minimum requirements for the education and training of a learner leading to registration in the categories Professional Nurse and Midwife

 

Amendment Regulation

R. 175 8 March 2013 Regulations relating to the particulars to be furnished to the Council for keeping the register for nursing practitioners; the manner of effecting alterations to the register; and certificates that may be issued by the Council: Amendment

(These amendments affect the transitional arrangements in the regulations published by Government notice No. 195 of 19 February 2008)

 

Government Notice

R. 176 8 March 2013 Notice regarding the creation of categories of practitioners in terms of section 31(2) of the Nursing Act, 2005

{This notice creates the category staff nurse (enrolled nursing) required to implement the transitional arrangements mentioned in R. 175 of 8 March 2013}

 

It is important that these regulations are communicated as broadly as possible and your assistance in this regard will be greatly appreciated. Please help ensure that every nursing and midwifery practitioner, educator or administrator to whom these regulations apply becomes familiar with the contents of the regulations.

Please note that unless indicated otherwise in the regulations, these regulations became effective on the date of publication in the Gazette (i.e. 8 March 2013).

Further details about the implementation plans and the implementation of these regulations will be communicated to you shortly.
